![]() He didn't realize that his consciousness was in the simulation/kept in suspension until the end (kept in the dark by the company in order to expedite his work). I am going to jump around here with spoilers (key note in the end): So he died in the car accident, the Company funded his archive because they wanted his work to continue. ![]() I’m not sure I explained my theory quite as well as I could have, but I’m gonna stop typing and go watch it again □!<Īh, this is similar to what I thought. J1 and J2 were part of the natural progression of his development of the technology, but the real company knew, which is partially why they (Toby Jones and pals) came in and did the “risk assessment.” I think the phone calls with his wife were real, which is why he mentions being frustrated that he could never call out, and only she could call him. And as he is actually in the Archive, there’s only a limited amount of time for the company to “pick his brain” so to speak, again more pressure to complete the project on time. So, I thought they essentially put him in a customized simulation to use him to continue working on the job he was hired to do before he died. >! So here’s my take, (which I haven’t seen anyone else mention yet, and I should really rewatch the movie to confirm) and it’s that the reason for all the added pressure and is that the Archive company in the real world does not currently have a way to transfer the consciousness and/or keep it from degrading. Ik it’s a bit tricky but by my logic that’s how I see it and I like your theory and everyone who has said it my only thing is that it has a flaw however if he did create an ai using the archive it would have to be through his and since he can necessarily access it because he can actually touch the physical one maybe he was able to hack or access it in his simulation world which meant that he recreated his wife and her actions based on his memories alone is the real mind fuck but it also means it’s not an exact copy but would be like creating a version of her in which the way he saw her which would kind of be an incomplete version of her which would be why they were always so intrigued with the memories and also why they had some defects idk I’d like to here another theory or some flaws in my theory but none the less it was a great movie in which the writer either was a genius or didn’t realize all these other elements Your theory makes sense and I want to believe that was the case the only thing is there’s is some pretty big plot holes about this theory someone else Lee mentioned a similar thing which is that at the end when he tried to download his wife into j3 it didn’t work because her archive was never real meaning that that sentence alone breaks the argument on him creating artificial intelligence ik it may be confusing but here me out cause I’m fairly confusing myself so let me explain my reasoning he build his ai’s off of the archive system to be exact he used his wife’s archive to create the j ai’s, so I’d her archive never worked then that means he never really creased them and it’s just part of his simulation now with that being said there is no denying that he created a theory while being in his archive which the companies could test them selves but in my mind if he used his wife’s archive to create the ai’s in the first place cause he downloaded her brain pretty much and tried to grow a new one in a sense but in the end when he tried to download his wife’s archive which is her soul I guess and put her soul into the body with her recreated brain but the download failed because the archive was never real which rips the theory.
